Jason Ditzian (Musical Director) is a multi-wind instrumentalist/composer who performs on single reeds (clarinets, saxophones), double reeds (Nepalese, South Indian, Armenian), flutes (Indian/Egyptian), and jaw harp (Cambodian). He has composed and performed numerous works for dance, movie and theater. He is a founding member of music ensemble, Nanos Operetta, winner of the 2005 Isadora Duncan Dance Award in Music/Sound/Text for Serei/Spirits of Nature with butoh masters, Koichi and Hiroko Tamano. He was also co-founder and Artistic Director of 9 installments of the performance series 3 Drops of Blood. Jason is a regular band member of 2005 Best Theater Ensemble (SF Weekly), Rococo Risqué. He is horn section leader for soul band, Lord Loves a Working Man, headliners for the 2007 Tour de Fat, a philanthropic national tour promoting sustainable environmental practices. He is leader of klezmer ensemble, Kugelplex, featured performers in the 2006 & 2007 presentations of Handel’s Messiah (klezmer style!) with the Oakland symphony at the Paramount theater in Oakland. In 2005, he was composer/band leader for the Tony Award winning San Francisco Mime Troupe. He has performed and recorded with many prominent Bay Area artists including Faun Fables, Myra Melford, Marcus Shelby, Mitch Marcus, Kunst-Stoff, Jewlia Eisenberg, Dan Cantrell, and inkBOAT. In August 2007, Jason traveled to Moscow to perform a concert with Tzadik recording artist, Charming Hostess.
